Arla Kintigh

Retired English teacher Arla Kintigh has continued coaching writers through her involvement with an Arts on Grand Memoir group. In addition, she has published two books about the Clay County Fair. The first Fairgoers Don’t Live on Fried Food Alone was written to help preserve memories and coincided with the fair board’s 100th anniversary. Clayton Goes to the Fair, illustrated by Mandy Muelhheusen, is about a pig who strays from Grandpa’s Barn. Her handmade pig pillows have been popular with children and adults.

Her most recent publication "The Tangney Hotel: an Upscale Hotel for an Upscale Town" was an extensive research of news archives and library resources for information regarding Spencer, Iowa's Tangney Hotel.

Kintigh lives on an acreage near Spencer with her husband Herb.
