Welcome to Arts On Grand
Enriching life in northwest Iowa through the Arts
Formed in 1989, the Spencer Area Arts Council was created to encourage local artists, musicians and art lovers to showcase and present their work. In the early 2000’s the organization’s name was changed to Arts on Grand for their new location on Grand Ave. Arts on Grand is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Today, Arts on Grand continues to promote and present local artists and musicians, with a mission of enriching the lives of N.W. Iowans through the arts. We offer a variety of classes throughout the year for both children and adults.
Our exhibit gallery hosts a variety of different artists and art, from color pencil to pastel artists. We also offer live music in our gallery from local musicians. A gift shop offers art, books and other items from local and Midwestern artists and authors.

Quilt-to-Photo-to-Quilt with the Woodberrys
By: Ferman Woodberry
Photography is a hobby that Eunice and Ferman share. Over the years Eunice has pondered how images from their photography could be translated into fabric to create quilted wall hangings. As they have interacted with each other’s artwork, Eunice discovered collage quilting and Ferman discovered a collage program that allows him to insert his photos into traditional quilt blocks. This led them to translate blocks into fabric and photographs. Eunice is exhibiting quilted wall hangings using fabric and hand and machine quilting. Ferman is exhibiting quilt block photographs printed on vinyl and hand stitched to give homage to the quilting tradition. Many of our pieces echo each other’s work in our own color schemes.
