Formed in 1979, the Spencer Area Arts Council was created to encourage local artists, musicians and art lovers to showcase and present their work. In the early 2000’s the organization’s name was changed to Arts on Grand for their new location on Grand Ave. Arts on Grand is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Today, Arts on Grand continues to promote and present local artists and musicians, with a mission of enriching the lives of N.W. Iowans through the arts. We offer a variety of classes throughout the year for both children and adults.
Our exhibit gallery hosts a variety of different artists and art, from color pencil to pastel artists. We also offer live music in our gallery from local musicians. A gift shop offers art, books and other items from local and Midwestern artists and authors.
Some people search all over the world for their version of paradise. For some it’s the beautiful Iowa farmland with its rich soil. For others it’s the small town where if you blink you’ll miss the beauty of the past. Others feel the need to travel far away in search of their paradise.
As an artist I’m blessed to have the freedom and ability to travel in search of what I feel is paradise and paint what I find. Sometimes it is as close as the small town of Booneville just beyond the pasture by my home or it is a drive down a country road in the Raccoon River Valley in search of a view that takes my breath away. At other times it is an exotic location as far away as Costa Rica or a closer location in the United States such as the Everglades, Rocky Mountains or the Grand Canyon. To find one’s paradise, you just have to open your eyes, turn 360 degrees and be open to God’s beauty that He created.
My hope is that as you view this exhibit you will find your version of paradise and soak in the breathtaking views. Find the beauty around you!
Arts on Grand aims to create opportunities for the community to engage in the arts. Our facility is a beautiful and historic home to galleries, classes, musical performances, and more.
