Welcome to Arts on Grand
Formed January 23, 1989, the Spencer Area Arts Council was created to encourage local artists, musicians and art lovers to showcase and present their work. On September 11, 1989, the organization opened at its current location and began operations as Arts on Grand. Arts on Grand is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Today, Arts on Grand continues to promote and present local artists and musicians, with a mission to make the arts accessible and affordable to all. We offer a variety of classes throughout the year for all ages.
Our exhibit gallery hosts a variety of different artists and art. We offer live music in our gallery from local musicians. A gift shop offers art, books and other items from local and Midwestern artists and authors. Space for group and artist meetings and performances. A resource center of books and videos, including gallery events.
Arts on Grand host events throughout the year that include:
- Grapes on Grape
- Art of the Que
- Music in the Gallery
- Plein Air Contest at the Clay County Fair
- Christmas in the Gallery
Collaborative programming with area businesses, schools and other organizations, including:
- Films for the Cinematically Disadvantaged
- Spencer Performing Arts Coalition (SPARC)
- Festival of Trees
- Paint 'n Pint
- Clay County Fairgrounds
Arts on Grand aims to provide a home for all the arts, enhance enjoyment of these arts, encourage artists to develop their talents, and promote the arts in Spencer and surrounding areas.
We aim to do this while we sustain the organization through financial stability based on memberships, sponsorships, fundraisers, grants, donations and gifts of endowment.
