Alex Schlueter
Alex Schlueter is a young man who loves to create striking artwork and sharing it in his special way. Diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) at age 3, Alex has grown into loving and happy young man who has inspired his family, friends and others who share his journey.
Alex began structured art training when he was 13, and he has produced a range of pieces in watercolor, pencils and acrylic. He loves his lessons with his current teacher, Deb Burow, in Northwest Iowa, where he is learning new techniques in color, composition and new art media. Alex also has a special place in his heart for Tricia Saviano, who tutored him when he lived in the Chicago area.
Alex lives with his parents, Amy and Jim Schlueter, in Wahpeton. He loves the lake, singing with his sister Hannah, and spending time with his aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as his friends at Hope Haven in Spirit Lake. Through his art and his loving personality, Alex is living proof that everyone is special, and everyone has wonderful things to contribute to our world.
