Deanna Skokan
Deanna Skokan has lived in the Des Moines area for over 25 years. She has always loved to paint, but until 2014 it was on the walls of her house. As her children left for college, she moved her paintbrush from drywall to canvas. She also enjoys painting en plein air (outside) and has entered some recent Plein Air/Paint Out events. When she’s not busy painting, Deanna volunteers her time promoting Iowa Artists as their Membership Chair.
She has had many solo exhibits across Iowa and been accepted into many Midwest juried art events, including 3 recent Iowa State Fairs. An early painting, Hope of Africa, currently hangs on a wall at the Hospital of Hope in Mango, Togo, Africa.
Deanna is an active member of Iowa Artists US, Central Iowa Plein Air Artists and National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society (NOAPS). Her artwork can be found at the Geisler-Penquite Gift Shop at
The Centre for Arts and Artists in Newton, Iowa, and Bill’s Art Center and Gallery in Camdenton, Missouri, and at Lake Fine Art Academy and Galleria on the Bagnell Dam Strip in Lake Ozark, Missouri.
Her goal is to encourage others to paint through mentoring and to bring the beauty of the world God created to the eyes of others. She enjoys painting scenes from her many travels.
Aside from painting, Deanna enjoys traveling, reading, working outside on her tractor, swimming, and spending time with family and friends at her homes in Osage Beach, Missouri, and in Naples, Florida.
