Nancy Schoenewe
Since childhood, Nancy’s passion for art and nature has motivated her life on a daily basis. She is an outdoor enthusiast, spending time in her flower garden or hiking in NW Iowa. Growing up, her favorite place was her grandparents’ farm outside of Redfield, SD, where the prairie terrain, big open skies, and lake bordering the property inspired her imagination.
Nancy is a retired English Professor, a position where she encouraged creativity in her lessons and assignments. Nancy is a published poet and writer.
Since retirement she dedicates more time to painting and jewelry making. Her paintings have been on exhibit at Arts on Grand in Spencer, Iowa; the Pearson Lakes Art Center at Okoboji, Iowa; and at the Witter Gallery in Storm Lake, Iowa. She is a member of Iowa Artists and has received ribbons in the Iowa Artist Regional Art Shows and at the Clay County Fair. Other creative endeavors include gardening, sewing, fiber arts, and writing.
Nancy and her husband Lee are avid birders and members of the Artisans Road Trip, where their work will be available at Arts on Grand the first weekend in October. A feature story of their artwork appeared in the April, 2021 Okoboji Magazine.
