Ganesha Staphana, Wedding of the Ants, &
Kalamkari Painting Process on Cotton

Embroidered Square, Wayside Shrine, & Pink Shrine

This exhibit features a variety of
visual artworks all inspired by India, a complex and fascinating country
of tremendous diversity. While it is one of the oldest civilizations in
the world, the juxtaposition of ancient traditions with contemporary
life-style trends is amazing to witness. It is at once confounding
and exhilarating.
This exhibit was organized by Cindy Gould, Associate Professor of Art and
Design at Iowa State University. She traveled to India where she
began collecting Indian textiles and was inspired to add aspects into her
own artwork.
The exhibit features historic textiles creates by anonymous artists,
contemporary fiber arts by Nita Thakore, and mixed-media art-works and
photographs by Cindy Gould. |
