Our “natural heritage” is a constant focus in the art work of Bruce Morrison. Whether it depicts the landscape of the tallgrass prairie region, or its flora and fauna; “From the Tallgrass” is the road traveled the past couple decades for the artist. And if you were to spend any time with him, it would appear this will continue indefinitely as a chosen path.

“I couldn’t think of a more suitable focus and recurrent theme for my work.”, says Morrison.

The landscape is a favorite subject in the artist’s photography, paintings and drawings, while birds are a favored subject in his drawings and serigraphs (silk screen prints). The photographic landscape is treated
in large, medium and now digital formats. In painting, Morrison prefers a plein air approach, and often follows up work on the studio easel. Much of his drawing has gravitated to small scale works in graphite
or color pencil. Many of the artist’s works have been published in regional and international periodicals
and calendars.

Exhibits are juried by committee and changed every 4 – 6 weeks. Artists are invited to submit slides for jurying! Please send slides or photos, information about the artist, a self-addressed, stamped envelope for their return and a $10 jury fee to: Arts on Grand, 408 N. Grand Avenue, Spencer, IA 51301.
